    Quick answer

What’s included in a contract courier service?

A dedicated vehicle and driver assigned solely to your route, with collection typically arranged within 30 to 60 minutes of your agreed time slot. Every job runs direct from A to B, with no depots and no co-loading, backed by photo or signature proof of delivery and one fixed, all-inclusive rate covering the whole contract. It’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, across London and the rest of the UK.

Does your business send the same delivery out on the same day, week after week? Our contract courier service turns that repeat job into a standing arrangement instead of a fresh booking every time. You get an agreed collection slot, a fixed preferential rate, and the same small pool of drivers turning up at your door. Nobody has to explain the loading bay code twice.

How Our Contract Courier Service Works

We start with a short call to map out exactly what you need: collection points, delivery points, timings, volumes and any handover procedure your site runs. From there we agree a fixed schedule and rate, and assign a small, consistent pool of drivers to your account so the same faces turn up every time. Most contract routes run on a small van or SWB van, though we always match the vehicle to your load rather than the other way round. You’ll get one monthly invoice, proof of delivery on every run, and a direct line for the ad-hoc extras that always seem to crop up.

Who Books a Contract Route With Us

    • Healthcare teams keep us busy with daily pathology and pharmacy runs between hospital sites and labs, on schedules that clinics can set a clock by (see medical courier)
    • Legal and professional services firms rely on scheduled document runs between offices, courts and agencies across Central London, where filing deadlines don’t move for anyone
    • Manufacturers use line-feed shuttles between plants and suppliers around Birmingham, timed tightly to production shifts rather than a courier’s convenience
    • Retailers lean on us for store replenishment and inter-branch transfers that keep shelves stocked on trading days, from Manchester city-centre units to out-of-town retail parks
    • Print and media clients need daily collections from the press to mailing houses and clients around Leeds, where next-morning delivery windows are non-negotiable

Why a Contract Beats Running Your Own Van

Compare a contract rate to ad-hoc booking, and it almost always comes in lower, with guaranteed capacity and none of the daily admin of getting a fresh quote every time. Compare it to running your own van, and the gap widens further. Logistics UK’s own distribution cost data shows van operating costs still climbing year on year, and that’s before you’ve paid a driver’s wage, covered their holiday, or found cover when they’re off sick. Recruiting isn’t getting any easier either. Logistics UK’s most recent census recorded 293,714 active professional drivers in the UK, down 1.9% year on year, in its report on the shrinking driver pool. You pay only for the runs you actually need, and you can scale up or down with a phone call. Most of our contracts run on 30-day terms with no long lock-in, because we’d rather earn your business every month than trap you in one.

    FAQs

    Contract Courier Service FAQs

What’s the minimum term for a contract rate?

Most contract rates start from a single route run at least once a week. Agreements typically sit on rolling 30-day terms, so you’re never locked into a long contract you can’t get out of.

Will we get the same driver on every run?

Yes. Your route is served by a small, consistent pool of drivers who learn your sites, your loading bay codes and your contacts. Cover is arranged for holidays and sickness so the schedule never slips.

What insurance do you carry, and can you send proof for our procurement team?

Every contract vehicle runs with goods-in-transit and public liability cover, and we’ll send policy documents and certificates on request. Most business clients ask for this before signing off a supplier, so we keep it ready to go.

Can the schedule flex if our volumes change?

Yes. The contract fixes your rate and framework, but timings and frequency can flex with a bit of notice. Any extra ad-hoc runs are billed at your agreed preferential rate rather than a standard one-off price.

How does invoicing work, and is VAT charged separately?

You’ll get one consolidated monthly invoice with a run-by-run breakdown and proof of delivery attached. VAT is added on top at the standard rate, and purchase order references are handled if your finance team needs them.

Can you take over a route from our current courier without missing a run?

Yes, we do this regularly. We’ll shadow your existing procedure, document collection and delivery points, and switch the route over on an agreed date without a gap in service.

    ★★★★★

“They’ve run our daily 7am inter-site route for two years — same drivers, zero missed runs, one tidy invoice a month. Exactly what a contract service should be.”

    Vehicle sizes

Which Vehicle Will Your Job Need?

Every job travels on a dedicated vehicle sized to the load, so you are never paying for space you do not use. If you are unsure which applies, describe the items when you call and we will advise.
