What’s included with a dedicated van courier booking?
You get one vehicle and one driver working only your job, with collection inside 30 to 60 minutes of booking, day or night. Your delivery runs direct from collection to drop-off, with no depots, no other stops and no co-loading. A controller sends live updates by phone or text, and you get photo or signature proof of delivery plus one fixed, all-inclusive price agreed before the driver sets off.
Book a dedicated van courier and you get the entire vehicle to yourself. There’s nobody else’s parcels stacked in with yours, no scheduled detours and no queueing behind someone else’s round. Our driver loads at your collection point, drives direct to the address you give us, and hands over with photo or signature proof of delivery. It’s the quickest, safest way to move a consignment by road, whether that’s across Central London or the length of the country, when the job can’t wait for a shared network to get round to it.
Why a Dedicated Vehicle Beats a Shared Network
Shared networks keep prices low by making your consignment wait its turn behind everyone else’s. Van traffic on Britain’s roads reached 58.8 billion vehicle miles in 2025, up 10% on 2019 (gov.uk), and every extra mile on a shared round is another stop before yours. Book a dedicated van and every one of those compromises disappears. Here’s what changes:
- Speed: the driver pulls away the moment you’re loaded and doesn’t stop again until your goods are delivered.
- Security: one load, one unload and no depot handling in between, cutting the loss and damage risk that comes from goods changing vehicles and hands.
- Certainty: you know the exact vehicle, the driver’s name and the route, and we keep you posted the whole way.
- Flexibility: need two collections and three drops on the same run? We’ll plan it as one dedicated job, not three separate bookings.
Security matters here in a very literal way. NaVCIS recorded 3,424 cargo crime incidents against UK commercial vehicles in 2025, nine a day on average, with curtain slashing at unattended parking spots the most common method (fleetnews.co.uk). A direct run with no stopover removes that entire window of opportunity.
One Fleet, Four Van Sizes, One Phone Call
We always quote the smallest vehicle that can safely carry your consignment, because that’s what keeps the price down. A small van suits boxes and parts up to around 400kg. Need more room? A SWB van takes a pallet, an LWB van stretches to three pallets or anything up to four metres long, and a Luton with a tail lift handles up to five pallets or heavy items when there’s no forklift waiting at the other end. Not sure which one you need? Compare the whole fleet on our vehicles page.
Who Books a Dedicated Van
Manufacturing firms call us when a line-critical part has to reach the production floor before the next shift starts, not whenever a shared van gets round to it. A part needed on a factory floor in Birmingham this afternoon is a typical same-day job for us.
Print and media clients need a finished job flat and on time at a venue, not creased at the bottom of somebody else’s round. We’ve carried finished print straight into venues across Manchester on the morning of the event, with minutes to spare.
Retailers use dedicated vans to replenish branches fast, legal teams for sealed document runs between offices, and healthcare providers when samples or equipment can’t sit in a depot overnight. Automotive and construction firms book us for exactly the same reason, and that’s just as true for a retailer restocking a branch in Leeds as it is for a law firm in the City.
Whatever’s moving, if it’s time-critical, fragile or worth more than a shared network should risk, a dedicated van is the right call. Running the same delivery on a regular schedule instead of a one-off? Our contract courier service handles that.

Dedicated Van Courier: Common Questions
Is a dedicated van courier the same as a man and van?
No. A dedicated van courier is a fully insured, professional same-day service built for direct, single-consignment runs with proof of delivery on every job. Man and van is a lighter, budget-friendly option aimed at small house or office moves where the driver also helps load. Both use similar vehicles, but the insurance, the paperwork and the way the job is run are different.
Do I need to arrange my own goods-in-transit insurance?
No. Every dedicated van booking already includes goods-in-transit cover, so you’re not relying on a driver’s personal policy or arranging anything extra yourself. If your consignment carries an unusually high value, tell us at booking and we’ll confirm the cover limit before the driver arrives.
Can I book more than one collection or drop on the same dedicated van?
Yes. One dedicated vehicle can pick up and drop off at several addresses on a single run, and it usually works out cheaper than booking each leg separately. Give us the full list of stops when you call and we’ll plan the most efficient order.
How is a dedicated van courier priced, and are there hidden extras?
Pricing is based on vehicle size and mileage, with a fixed minimum charge agreed before the driver sets off. Fuel, ULEZ, congestion charge and tolls are all built into that figure, so the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
Do you cover deliveries outside London?
Yes. We run dedicated vans to any mainland UK postcode, with daily long-distance runs leaving from London and the South East, plus arranged cover for Northern Ireland and offshore addresses. Distance isn’t a barrier to a same-day booking.
Will the driver help load and unload at both ends?
Yes, kerbside loading and unloading is included as standard. If you need the driver to carry items further into a building, work at height, or bring an extra pair of hands, tell us when you book and we’ll price that in.
What’s the difference between a dedicated van courier and a normal same day courier?
Every same day booking with us already uses a dedicated vehicle; that’s the model our whole service is built on. “Dedicated van courier” simply describes that vehicle-to-yourself approach directly, for customers who want to book it as a distinct requirement rather than assume it.
Is a dedicated van courier more expensive than a shared or pallet network?
Usually yes, because you’re paying for a whole vehicle rather than a share of one. For a single consignment that genuinely needs exclusivity, it’s typically still cheaper than the cost of damage, delay or a security breach caused by sharing space with unrelated loads.
Can a dedicated van courier handle multiple drops for the same customer?
Yes. Dedicated means the vehicle isn’t shared with other customers’ consignments, not that it can only make one stop. A single dedicated van can run several collections or deliveries for the same job, in an order you agree in advance.
Do congestion charges and Clean Air Zone fees get added after the job?
No. Congestion charge, ULEZ and Clean Air Zone charges for the route are built into your fixed quote before the driver sets off, so the price agreed at booking is the price on the invoice.
What size vehicle can I get on a dedicated basis?
Any vehicle in our fleet, from a small van up to a Luton van, can be booked as a dedicated job. The exclusivity is about how the vehicle is used, not its size.
Do I need to book a dedicated van courier in advance?
No. Most dedicated jobs are booked the same day, with collection typically arranged within 30 to 60 minutes. Advance booking helps for recurring or scheduled work, but it isn’t a requirement. Not sure whether your job needs a dedicated vehicle? Call our controllers on 020 4525 2039 and describe what’s moving, or get a fixed quote online and we’ll tell you honestly which service fits.
“We send finished print jobs to venues across the country. One van, one driver, straight there — nothing has ever arrived late or damaged.”

Which Vehicle Will Your Job Need?
Every job travels on a dedicated vehicle sized to the load, so you are never paying for space you do not use. If you are unsure which applies, describe the items when you call and we will advise.
| Vehicle | Typical capacity | Typically carries |
|---|---|---|
| Small van | 400kg | Boxed goods, documents, small parts |
| SWB van | 800kg / 1 pallet | Cartons, cases, single pallet loads |
| LWB van | 1,200kg / 3 pallets | Longer items up to 4m, multiple pallets |
