    Quick answer

    Can a courier deliver furniture?

Not a parcel network, no. Sofas, mattresses and wardrobes are past every size and weight limit they set. A dedicated furniture courier sends a van sized for the item with a driver who helps load and carry it in, usually the same day you book, with blankets and straps on board and one fixed price covering the whole job.

    Why a dedicated van

Why Furniture Needs a Courier, Not a Parcel Service

Furniture fails a parcel network on all three counts. It is too heavy, too big and too easily marked. Sofas, mattresses, wardrobes and dining tables sit well past the roughly 30kg and 1.2m ceiling most networks work to, and even where something technically fits, a conveyor and a stack of cages is the last place you want an upholstered arm or a lacquered top.

Retail delivery is not always the answer either. Buy from a showroom and you are often quoted a two to six week lead time on a four-hour window. Buy second hand, at auction or on Facebook Marketplace and eBay, and there is no delivery option at all: the listing ends and the item becomes your problem to move, usually within a few days before the seller loses patience.

Booking a courier for furniture fills that gap. Your item travels alone, is handled at collection and again at delivery and nowhere in between, and the driver is there to help carry it rather than leave it on the pavement.

    What we move

    Furniture We Move Most Days

Single items and part-loads, for households, retailers and offices, across London and the rest of the UK.

    Sofas and armchairs

Two and three seaters, corner units, recliners and armchairs. As a sofa courier we blanket-wrap before loading and check doorway and stairwell access with you before the van is booked, because a sofa that will not turn a landing is the most common problem on this kind of job.

    Beds and mattresses

Divans, frames, headboards and mattresses. A mattress courier job needs a van tall enough to keep it flat or properly on edge rather than folded, which is how they get damaged.

    Wardrobes and storage

Wardrobes, chests, bookcases, sideboards and dressers, assembled or flat-packed. Assembled tall units usually need an LWB van or a Luton.

    Tables and dining sets

Dining tables, desks, consoles and glass-topped pieces, which travel on edge and padded rather than stacked flat under anything else.

    Office and contract furniture

Desks, pedestals, task chairs, meeting tables and reception units for office fit-outs and single replacements. For a whole office see man and van.

    Auction and marketplace buys

Auction house collections against a deadline, plus eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree and Vinterior pickups where you need the item gone today and cannot get it in a car.

Antique or high-value pieces are better booked as a fragile and high-value courier job, and anything beyond furniture, like timber, machinery or appliances, sits under our large and heavy item courier service.

Bought Something That Won’t Fit in the Car?

Send us the item, both postcodes and whether there are stairs. You get one fixed all-inclusive price, and we can usually collect the same day.

    Choosing

Furniture Courier, Man and Van, or Large Item?

Three services overlap here, and booking the wrong one is what makes a job cost more than it should.

    Furniture courier

One item or a few pieces, going from A to B, where the driver helps load and carry. The right choice for an auction win, a Marketplace sofa or a single showroom delivery.

    Man and van

A room, a studio flat or an office move where the volume and the carrying, not the vehicle, are the real job. Booked by the load rather than by the item.

    Large item courier

Heavy, long or awkward loads that are not furniture: timber, machine parts, white goods, exhibition kit and anything needing a tail lift.

Not sure which fits? Describe the job on the phone and we will tell you which is cheaper, even when that is not the one you called about.

    How it works

What Happens When You Book Furniture Delivery

    1. Describe the item

What it is, roughly how big, and both postcodes. A photo from the listing is usually enough for us to size the van.

    2. Flag the access

Stairs, lifts, narrow hallways, tight parking or a first-floor flat with a turn on the landing. This decides the crew, not the price on the day.

    3. Fixed price agreed

One figure covering van, driver, fuel, congestion and Clean Air Zone charges. Nothing is added after the item is on the van.

    4. Wrapped and delivered

Blanket-wrapped, strapped, driven direct and carried in. Photographed proof of delivery when it is in place.

    FAQs

    Furniture Courier FAQs

How much does a furniture courier cost?

There is no flat rate, because you are hiring a vehicle rather than buying a parcel slot. Price depends on the van size the item needs, the distance, and whether stairs or a second person are involved. A short local single-item run is a very different number from a cross-country sofa move, so tell us the item and both postcodes and you get one fixed all-inclusive figure before booking.

Will the driver help carry the furniture inside?

Yes. The driver helps load and unload on every job, with a second pair of hands for anything genuinely heavy or awkward. Tell us at booking if there are stairs, a narrow landing or no lift, so we send the right crew rather than discovering the problem at the door.

Can you collect furniture from an auction house or a Marketplace seller?

Yes, and it is a large part of this work. We collect from auction houses against their clearance deadline, and from private eBay, Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree sellers. We just need the collection window, a contact number for the seller and confirmation that someone will be there to release the item.

Is my furniture insured while it is being moved?

Every job runs under goods-in-transit and public liability cover as standard, and items are blanket-wrapped and strapped rather than loose in the van. If a piece is antique or high in value, tell us the figure at booking so we can confirm the level of cover in writing first.

Do you deliver furniture the same day?

Usually, yes. Collection across Greater London is typically within 30 to 60 minutes of booking and the item is driven straight to the destination. Longer routes depend on where the nearest suitable van is, and we give you a realistic time before you commit rather than after.

Can you take a sofa or mattress up to a flat?

Yes, as long as it physically fits the stairwell or lift. Give us the floor number, whether there is a lift, and the width of the tightest turn, and we will tell you honestly whether it will go before you book. Measuring the doorway beforehand saves far more than it costs.

Do you move furniture outside London?

Yes, anywhere in the UK. Most furniture courier London jobs are collected and delivered within a few hours, and we run the same service nationwide on a dedicated vehicle, so the item stays on one van from collection to delivery regardless of distance. See our courier locations for the areas we cover most often.

    Vehicle sizes

Which Vehicle Will Your Job Need?

Every job travels on a dedicated vehicle sized to the load, so you are never paying for space you do not use. If you are unsure which applies, describe the items when you call and we will advise.
