Laptop Courier: IT Equipment Delivered by Hand
A laptop is small, expensive and full of other people’s data. We carry it on one van with one driver, hand it to a named person and photograph the handover, instead of putting it through a sorting hub and hoping.
- Fully insured
- DBS-checked drivers

Send a Laptop Today
Two addresses, the value of the kit and when it has to arrive.
What is the best way to send a laptop by courier?
Send it on a dedicated vehicle rather than through a parcel network. The machine stays with one driver from collection to delivery, so it is never sorted, stacked or left with a neighbour. Pack it in a padded box or its original packaging, tell us the value so cover is confirmed, and you get photo proof of the handover.
Why Laptops and Parcel Networks Sit Badly Together
A hub sorts by weight and shape, not by what a box is worth. Laptops are light, rectangular and easy to throw, and they spend a night on a belt with everything else. That is how screens crack, hinges break and machines disappear.
The risk is not only the hardware. A work machine holds client data, and a missing device becomes a security incident as well as a replacement cost. Using a laptop courier that keeps the machine in one pair of hands removes almost all of that exposure.
The Jobs We Are Called For
New starters and remote staff
A configured machine sent from an IT team or supplier to someone’s home on their first morning, or collected back when they leave.
Repairs and swap-outs
A failed machine collected and a replacement delivered on the same run, so the person is not without a device for a week.
Office moves and site rollouts
Batches of laptops, docks and monitors between offices or out to branches. Larger rollouts can run as a multi-drop route.
Servers, network kit and test gear
Rack equipment, switches and prototypes going to a data centre, lab or client site where signing in matters as much as arriving.
Laptop Needs to Be There Today?
Across London a driver is usually with you inside the hour, and the machine goes straight there.
How to Pack a Laptop for Transit
The original box is best. Failing that, use a box with at least an inch of padding on every side, wrap the machine in bubble wrap or foam, and make sure it cannot slide when the box is tilted. Take the charger off the machine rather than leaving the cable coiled against the screen, and do not pack loose accessories that can press into the lid.
Shut the machine down properly instead of leaving it asleep, and back it up before it travels. If the laptop is going to someone who will use it straight away, tell us whether the recipient needs the box back for the return leg.
If you have nothing suitable to pack it in, say so when you book. It is better to delay half an hour for a proper box than to hand over a bare machine in a rucksack.
Security and Proof
The driver is DBS checked and the machine never leaves the vehicle until it reaches the delivery address. We hand it to the named recipient, not to whoever answers the door, and record a photograph and signature with the time. For sites with a gate list or reception procedure, give us the contact and any reference when you book so the driver arrives with what security needs.
Goods-in-transit cover applies to every job. Tell us the value of the hardware at booking, especially for a batch of machines, and we will confirm the level of cover in writing before collection. For consignments where the data matters more than the hardware, our fragile and high-value courier service adds the same care to other sensitive items.
Timing and Cost
| Option | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Same day, direct | Replacement machine for someone who cannot work without it. Collected within the hour in London, driven straight there. |
| Overnight | Collected after the office closes, delivered before the recipient starts the next morning. |
| Booked ahead | New starter kit timed for a specific morning, or a swap-out on a scheduled maintenance day. |
| Collect and return | One run that delivers the new machine and brings the old one back. |
Price is based on the vehicle and the distance, fixed before collection. A single laptop travels in a small van, which is the cheapest option; a rollout of twenty machines and monitors needs more space. Night, weekend and bank holiday jobs cost slightly more than the same run on a weekday, and that is already in the quoted figure.
Laptop Courier Questions
Can you collect a laptop from a home address?
Yes, and it is common when someone leaves a job or a machine needs repair. We can collect from the employee’s home and deliver to your office or IT supplier, with the handover recorded at both ends.
Is the laptop insured while it is with you?
Goods-in-transit cover applies as standard. Because laptops are worth more than their size suggests, tell us the value when booking so we can confirm in writing what is covered before the machine moves.
Do you deliver to a data centre or secure site?
Yes. Send the site name, the access or ticket reference and a contact, and we will pass the driver and vehicle details ahead so they can be added to the gate list.
Can you move a batch of machines to several offices?
Yes. Rollouts run as a planned route with proof at each site. If the batch includes monitors and docks, mention the total volume and we will size the van accordingly.
What if nobody is there to receive it?
We call ahead so that rarely happens. If the recipient genuinely cannot take it, we contact you and agree what to do. IT equipment is not left with neighbours or in a porch.
Do you carry other IT equipment?
Yes: desktops, monitors, servers, switches, printers and test equipment. Anything that fits in a van and needs a careful pair of hands rather than a conveyor.
