Price a Scottish Job
Give us the two postcodes and the deadline. We will tell you straight whether it is a same day run or a planned one.
Is there a courier service that covers the whole of Scotland?
Yes. We run dedicated vans to and from every Scottish postcode area, AB to ZE. Anywhere in the Central Belt is a same day job, usually collected within the hour. Runs from England land the same day or overnight depending on distance, and the islands are handled as planned deliveries around ferry sailings. Every job is one vehicle, one driver and one fixed price.
Three Very Different Delivery Problems
A courier in Scotland is not one service. Glasgow to Edinburgh is a commute. Edinburgh to Lerwick is a ferry crossing and an overnight sailing. Treating them as the same thing is how parcel networks end up quoting a day and delivering in four.
The Central Belt
Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk, Livingston and the Lanarkshire towns, all tied together by the M8, M9 and M80. Most of Scotland’s population and trade sits in this strip. Collections here run inside the hour and most drops land within the morning.
Tayside and the North East
Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen up the A90, with the energy supply chain at Dyce, Altens and Bridge of Don. Still a same day job from the Central Belt, but a longer one, so the booking time matters. Glasgow to Aberdeen is close to three hours on a good run.
Highlands and Islands
The A9 to Inverness, then single-carriageway roads to Ullapool, Thurso or Fort William, and CalMac or NorthLink sailings beyond. This is where we quote honestly rather than quickly, and where planning a day ahead pays off.
Scotland’s Four Low Emission Zones
Every one of Scotland’s four biggest cities now runs an enforced Low Emission Zone, and they matter to anyone booking a van into a city centre. Non-compliant vehicles are fined on camera, with no daily charge to pay your way in the way London’s ULEZ works. The zones are a flat ban on older vehicles rather than a toll.
| City | Enforcement began | What the zone covers |
|---|---|---|
| Glasgow | 1 June 2023 | The city centre, bounded broadly by the M8 and the River Clyde |
| Dundee | 30 May 2024 | Inside the inner ring road |
| Aberdeen | 1 June 2024 | The city centre around Union Street |
| Edinburgh | 1 June 2024 | The city centre and Old Town |
For vans the line is Euro 6 for diesel and Euro 4 for petrol, which in practice means most diesel vans registered from late 2015 onwards. According to Transport Scotland, a first penalty is £60 and it doubles for each further breach in the same zone. A fine like that on a delivery into Buchanan Street or the Grassmarket is exactly the kind of cost that should never appear on a courier invoice.
It will not appear on ours. Every van we send into a Scottish city centre meets the standard, so an LEZ is simply part of the route and you never need to check a registration yourself.
Sending Something North of the Border Today?
Tell us the postcode it is leaving from and the Scottish address it is going to. You will get a fixed price and a realistic arrival time in one call.
Crossing the Border in One Vehicle
Most of our Scottish work starts in England. A supplier in the Midlands has a part a Glasgow plant needs tonight, or a London office has to get originals to an Edinburgh solicitor before a completion. The value of a dedicated van on these runs is that nothing is handed over at a regional depot near Carlisle or Newcastle. The driver who loads it in Northampton is the one who unloads it in Motherwell.
Which way we cross depends on where the job is going. The M6 turns into the M74 at Gretna and runs straight to Glasgow and Lanarkshire. For Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife, the A1 up the coast through Berwick is often the better road from the north east, and the A68 over Carter Bar suits the Borders.
| From | To | Approx. distance | How we run it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newcastle | Edinburgh | 120 miles | Same day, around two and a half hours |
| Manchester | Glasgow | 215 miles | Same day, around four hours |
| Birmingham | Edinburgh | 295 miles | Same day, around five and a half hours |
| London | Glasgow | 410 miles | Same day or overnight, roughly seven hours driving |
| London | Aberdeen or Inverness | 540 to 570 miles | Planned overnight or with a second driver |
The last row is the honest one. A single van driver cannot legally and safely cover London to Inverness and back in one shift, so we either send two drivers or run it through the night for a morning handover. You will know which before you book.
Pallet Delivery in Scotland Without the Network
Pallet networks move freight to Scotland on a hub and trunk model: your pallet goes to a local depot, onto a trailer to a central hub in the Midlands, onto another trailer north, and then out on a Scottish member’s van a day or two later. That is fine for routine stock and poor for anything urgent or fragile.
Our pallet delivery into Scotland is a van or Luton with a tail lift, booked for your pallet alone. A long wheelbase van takes a single standard pallet, a Luton takes more, and the tail lift means a site without a forklift, such as a shop unit in Leith or a farm near Stirling, can still take delivery. We run pallets into Eurocentral beside the M8, the Hillington and Queenslie estates in Glasgow, Newbridge and Sighthill in Edinburgh, and the oil and gas yards around Aberdeen.
The Islands, Handled Properly
Skye is reachable by the bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, so it runs like any Highland job. Everywhere else needs a boat. Orkney sails from Scrabster, Shetland is an overnight crossing from Aberdeen, and the Western Isles leave from Ullapool, Uig and Oban.
We do not promise same day to the islands, because the sailing timetable decides that, not us. What we do is check the crossings and vehicle deck space when you book, get the driver to the port in time, and tell you the realistic day of arrival. For urgent island work, booking early in the day makes more difference than anything else.
Where We Collect and Deliver in Scotland

Scotland Courier Questions
Will a Low Emission Zone add a charge to my delivery?
No. Scotland’s zones in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen fine older vehicles rather than charging a daily fee, and every van we send into those city centres meets the Euro 6 diesel or Euro 4 petrol standard. There is nothing extra on your quote and no penalty risk for you.
Can a pallet travel from England to Scotland on the same day?
Yes, for most of the Central Belt. A pallet collected in Manchester or Leeds in the morning is usually in Glasgow or Edinburgh by the afternoon, on a tail-lift van booked only for your load. From London or the south coast it becomes an evening or overnight delivery.
Do Highland and island postcodes cost extra?
We do not add a postcode surcharge. Our price is based on the vehicle and the miles driven, so an IV or KW address costs more than a Glasgow one only because it is further away. For island deliveries the ferry fare for the van is included in the fixed price we quote.
How far north will you go?
All the way. Thurso, Wick and John o’ Groats by road, and Orkney and Shetland by ferry. The further north and west the job goes, the more we plan it around roads, weather and sailings, and we will tell you the honest arrival day before you commit.
Can one van drop in both Glasgow and Edinburgh?
Yes. The two cities are about an hour apart on the M8, so a two-drop run is common and usually cheaper than two separate bookings. The same applies to Stirling, Perth or Dundee if they fall on the way.
Do you collect in Scotland for delivery to England?
Yes, it works in both directions. We collect across Scotland for delivery anywhere in England and Wales, and a Glasgow or Edinburgh pickup reaches the north of England the same afternoon.
