Which courier vehicle do you need for your job?
Match the vehicle to the load. A small van handles parcels and boxed goods up to around 400kg, an SWB van takes 1 pallet or roughly 800kg, an LWB van stretches to 3 pallets or loads up to 4m long, and a tail-lift Luton carries up to 5 pallets with no forklift needed at either end. Tell us what’s moving and we’ll recommend the smallest option that does the job properly, 24 hours a day.
Comparison
Compare Our Courier Vehicles Side by Side
The figures below are typical for each vehicle class, and we confirm exact capacity when we quote. A nimble SWB van is often all a single pallet needs. Vans now make up 17% of all motor vehicle traffic in Great Britain, so getting the size right saves real time and money. Freight bigger than a Luton doesn’t stop the job either. We simply split it across paired vehicles running the same route, so it still arrives together.
| Vehicle | Starting price | Typical capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Small van | from £39 | 400kg, boxed goods |
| SWB van | from £49 | 1 pallet / 800kg |
| LWB van | from £69 | 3 pallets / 1,200kg / 4m lengths |
| Luton (tail lift) | from £89 | 5 pallets / 1,000kg, no forklift needed |

Wait-and-return jobs, two-crew lifts and multi-drop runs are all quoted up front as a single fixed figure.
Dedicated Same Day Courier vs Parcel Network: The Honest Comparison
We’d rather point you to the right service than the one that earns us more money. Here’s the honest trade-off, including when a cheap network parcel is genuinely the better choice. Large vans remain the UK’s most popular pick, taking a 66.7% share of the 315,422 new vans registered in 2025, and an LWB van on a dedicated run often beats a network parcel hands down when time matters.
| Factor | Dedicated same day courier | Next-day parcel network |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Collected in 30–60 minutes and driven direct: hours, not days | Tomorrow (usually), within a delivery window |
| Handling | Loaded once and unloaded once, with no hubs or conveyor belts in between | Handled 4–6+ times through depots and sortation |
| Visibility | Live updates from a team you can actually phone, not an automated tracking page | Automated scans, with a call centre queue if something goes wrong |
| Proof of delivery | Photo/signature with recipient name & time, sent instantly | Varies by carrier, often just a doorstep photo |
| Fragile / high-value | Ideal: single handling, protective blankets, straps and dedicated space | Higher damage risk, and many items are excluded from standard cover |
| Cost | From around £25 to £60 minimum, priced per journey | Cheapest option for small, non-urgent parcels |
| Best for | Deadlines today, fragile, valuable, irreplaceable, business-critical | Routine, replaceable, date-flexible parcels |
If your item is small, replaceable and the date is flexible, a genuine network parcel is better value. Use one. The moment the deadline is today, or a failure costs more than the delivery itself, a dedicated courier in a tail-lift Luton van or smaller stops being a luxury. It becomes the cheap option.

Our Service Standards: What We Commit to on Every Job
Trust is built on commitments you can actually hold us to, not vague promises. Here’s what we guarantee on every single booking, in writing.
Response
A real person answers day and night, every day of the year. No answering service, no callback queue. We confirm your quote in minutes, and collection in London typically starts within 30 to 60 minutes of booking.
Fixed Pricing
The written quote is final and all-inclusive: fuel, congestion charge, ULEZ, tolls and river crossings. Any extras, like waiting time or an added stop, are agreed and priced before they happen. Nothing lands on your invoice as a surprise.
Communication
You get updates by phone or SMS at booking, at collection, en route and on delivery. If traffic threatens your deadline, you hear it from us first, with real options.
Insurance & Cover
Goods-in-transit insurance covers up to £10,000 per consignment as standard, plus £1,000,000 public liability. If you need higher declared-value cover, we arrange it in writing before collection.
Evidence
You get photo or signature proof of delivery with the recipient’s name and a timestamp, emailed the moment the job’s done. We keep it on file, so you can retrieve it months later if you ever need it.
Your Data
Your booking details are used only to perform the delivery. We handle everything in line with UK GDPR, never sell your data, and cover it all in our published privacy policy. Sensitive consignments can travel under NDA on request.
If we ever fall short, you get a direct line to the people who run the business, not a ticket system. We answer issues the same day, and claims are acknowledged within one working day. See our terms for the formal detail, and our reviews for how this plays out in practice.
Courier Vehicle FAQs
How do I know which van I need?
Tell us the dimensions, weight and a rough description of what’s moving, plus a photo if you have one. We’ll recommend the smallest vehicle that carries it safely, which keeps your price down and avoids paying for space you don’t use.
What’s the difference between an SWB and LWB van?
An SWB van is the shorter body, built for a single pallet or around 800kg of boxed goods. An LWB van is longer and taller, so it carries up to 3 pallets or loads as long as 4 metres. If your load sits close to the line between the two, we’ll always recommend the smaller one first.
How many pallets fit in a tail-lift Luton van?
Our tail-lift Luton vans carry up to 5 pallets or around 1,000kg, and the tail lift means no forklift is needed at either end. It’s the vehicle we recommend most often for multi-pallet loads and bulky, awkward items that need loading from ground level.
Is my item insured while it’s with your driver?
Yes. Every job carries goods-in-transit insurance up to £10,000 per consignment as standard, plus £1,000,000 public liability cover. If you’re sending something worth more than that, tell us before collection and we’ll arrange higher declared-value cover in writing.
What happens if my load is bigger than a Luton van?
We split it across two or more dedicated vehicles running the same route together, so it still arrives as one job with a single point of contact. Just tell us the full size and weight when you book, and we’ll work out the right combination.
Can I upgrade to a bigger van if my load turns out larger than expected?
Yes, upgrading mid-booking is straightforward. Our quotes are based on honest capacity figures rather than padded estimates, so most jobs don’t need it, but if your load grows, just call us and we’ll send the right size vehicle.
How do I know which van my delivery needs?
Tell a controller the rough weight, dimensions and whether the item is palletised, and they’ll recommend the smallest vehicle that carries it safely. As a rough guide: boxed goods under 400kg suit a small van, one pallet or up to 800kg needs an SWB van, three pallets or four-metre lengths need an LWB van, and anything up to five pallets or requiring a tail lift needs a Luton.
Do I need a Luton van if my delivery address has no loading bay?
Not necessarily, but it helps. A Luton’s tail lift means a driver can load or unload without a forklift or dock leveller, which is useful at residential addresses, retail units or sites without dedicated goods access. For smaller loads without pallets, our drivers can usually manage manually from an SWB or LWB van instead.
What if I book the wrong size van by mistake?
Call us before the driver sets off and we’ll upgrade the booking at that point. If the driver has already arrived and the load doesn’t fit, we’ll dispatch a second, correctly sized vehicle as quickly as possible, though this takes longer than getting it right at the time of booking.
Can I drive myself, or does every job come with a professional driver?
Every booking comes with one of our own DBS-checked drivers; we don’t offer self-drive hire. This also means you don’t need to think about licence categories or towing limits yourself, since the driver and vehicle are already correctly matched under UK rules before the job is confirmed.
Does a bigger van cost more even for a light load?
Yes, pricing scales with vehicle size because larger vans cost more to run and take longer to dispatch in some areas. That’s exactly why we recommend the smallest vehicle that fits your load rather than defaulting to the biggest one, and why our quotes break the vehicle choice out clearly before you confirm. Whatever you’re moving today, from a single document to a full pallet run, the right van keeps the job quick and the price fair. Describe the load, and a controller will tell you honestly which of our four vehicles fits, then get a driver on the way within the hour. “They told us a small van would do when we asked for a Luton — saved us money and the job was perfect. That honesty is why we keep coming back.”
