The Other Half of Medway

Getting to the End of the Peninsula
There is one main road to Grain: the A228, reached from the A289 near Strood. It runs through Hoo St Werburgh and past the villages of the peninsula for around a dozen miles before it ends at the terminal gates. There is no alternative route if it is busy, and industrial sites have their own gate procedures. Around half an hour with normal traffic via the A289 and A228. There is only one main road, so we allow a margin.
