    Quick answer

Can I get a same day courier in Southwark near London Bridge?

Yes. We usually have a van at any address in Borough, Bankside or around London Bridge within the hour, and the goods travel directly to the destination with no depot stop. The City is five to ten minutes across the river, the West End about 20 and Heathrow roughly an hour. The price is agreed in advance.

A Market Town at the Foot of the Bridge

Southwark grew up as the place where travellers from the south arrived at London Bridge, and trade followed them. Borough Market traces its present site back to 1756, when local parishioners moved it off the high street, and notes that the railway viaduct built over it in 1862 turned it into a major fruit and vegetable wholesale hub. The arches are still there, and so is the trade.

Today the streets around the market are full of restaurants, bakeries, wine merchants and specialist food suppliers, most with little storage and a lot of customers. When a delivery fails or an order runs short before a busy service, the answer is often a courier in Southwark bringing stock in from a supplier across London within the hour.

    Working Around the Arches

Southwark is not easy for vans. Borough High Street is one of the busiest roads south of the river, Stoney Street and the lanes by the market are narrow, and pedestrians fill the pavements for most of the day. Loading windows are short, and some streets are closed to traffic at certain times.

We plan for this. Market collections are best booked early in the morning or later in the afternoon, and our drivers stop only where loading is allowed, then walk the last few metres. For the offices by London Bridge, we ask which goods entrance to use, since many buildings will not take deliveries at the front.

Most of north Southwark is inside the congestion charge zone. When your job needs to enter it, the charge is included in the fixed quote, and our vans are ULEZ compliant, so there is nothing else to add.

Off-peak drive times from Borough once the van is loaded. Rush hour on the bridges can add 15 minutes or more.

    FAQs

    Southwark Courier FAQs

Can you deliver to a trader inside Borough Market?

Yes. The driver stops at the nearest permitted loading point and carries the goods to the stall or unit. Tell us the stall name and a contact number.

What time is best for a pickup near Stoney Street?

Early morning, before the market fills, or mid-afternoon on quieter days. We will suggest a slot when you book.

Can you move a painting from a Bankside gallery to a collector outside London?

Yes. The work travels alone in the van, wrapped and secured, and goes directly to the collector. Tell us the value so we can confirm the cover.

Is a Sunday pickup in SE1 priced differently?

A Sunday run carries a modest premium over a weekday daytime one, as do nights and bank holidays. We fold that into the fixed price, which then stays put.

Do you cover Bermondsey, Waterloo and Elephant and Castle as well?

Yes, the whole of SE1 and the surrounding postcodes, including Walworth, Rotherhithe and the Old Kent Road.
