    Quick answer

Can I get a same day courier anywhere in Devon?

Yes. We collect across Devon, including the EX, PL and TQ postcodes, and drive each job directly to its destination. Exeter to Plymouth takes about an hour, Exeter to Barnstaple a little more, and the M5 puts Bristol within two hours and London within four. You get a fixed price before we set off.

England’s Longest Road Network, and Most of It Narrow

Devon is big, and its roads are mostly small. Devon County Council is responsible for more than 8,000 miles of road, the longest network of any English county, and the majority of it is lanes rather than main roads. Two national parks, Dartmoor and Exmoor, sit in the middle and the north with no fast way across either.

That is what makes a courier in Devon different from one in a city. The difficult part is rarely the motorway. It is the last few miles to a farm near Holsworthy, a workshop outside Chagford or a holiday let above Salcombe, where a large van will not fit and a satnav will happily send you down a lane that ends at a gate. We send the right size of vehicle and drivers who ask for directions rather than guessing.

    The main corridors

    How Devon Deliveries Actually Travel

    The M5 and Exeter

The motorway ends at Exeter, which makes the city the hinge for almost everything moving in or out of the county. Collections around the Science Park, Sowton, Marsh Barton and Exeter Airport can be on the M5 in minutes. See our Exeter page for the city itself.

    The A38 to Plymouth

The Devon Expressway runs south west from Exeter past Newton Abbot, Ashburton and Ivybridge to Plymouth, with the dockyard, Derriford Hospital and the marine businesses on the Tamar at the far end. It is dual carriageway all the way and roughly an hour’s drive.

    The A380 to Torbay

Torquay, Paignton and Brixham are reached on the A380 and the South Devon Highway past Kingskerswell. Busy with visitors in summer, and the harbour at Brixham needs a small vehicle.

    The A361 to North Devon

Barnstaple, Bideford and Ilfracombe hang off the North Devon Link Road from the M5 at Tiverton. It is the only fast road into the north of the county, so a single hold-up has nowhere to go. We check it before quoting.

The A30 to Okehampton and Cornwall

West along the top of Dartmoor to Okehampton and on to Launceston and Cornwall. The quickest route between Exeter and anything west of Tavistock.

    What we carry

    Typical Devon Jobs

    Hospital and clinical

Samples and equipment between the Royal Devon in Exeter, Derriford in Plymouth, Torbay Hospital and North Devon District in Barnstaple, through our medical courier team.

    Marine and engineering

Parts and components for boatbuilders, marine engineers and defence suppliers around Plymouth, Dartmouth and the Exe estuary, often against a launch or refit date.

    Food, farm and rural business

Devon produce heading to London restaurants and retailers, and spares for farms and rural workshops that cannot wait for a network van that only calls twice a week.

    FAQs

    Devon Courier FAQs

Can you deliver across Dartmoor or Exmoor?

Yes. We collect and deliver in the moorland villages and farms, and we plan the route around the roads that are open, especially in winter when high moorland roads can be closed by snow or fog. We will give you a realistic time rather than a map estimate.

How long does Devon to London take?

From Exeter, around three and a half to four hours by the M5 and M4 or the A303. From Plymouth or North Devon allow an hour more. A morning collection almost always delivers in London the same day.

Will a van get down the lane to my farm?

Tell us about the access when you book and we will send a vehicle that fits. For very tight lanes a small van is the answer, and directions or a what3words location help the driver avoid a wrong turn.

Do you cover Torbay and the South Hams?

Yes, including Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Totnes, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe. In summer the roads into the coastal towns are busy, and we allow for that in the time we give you.

Is there an extra charge for rural Devon addresses?

No rural surcharge. The price is based on the vehicle and the distance travelled, so a remote address costs more only because it is further, and the full figure is agreed before we collect.
