Newquay is Cornwall’s best-known resort, with Fistral Beach, surf schools and a summer population many times its winter one. Five miles north east of the town centre, on the old RAF base at St Mawgan, it also has the county’s main airport and a growing business park beside it.
Cornwall Council explains that its Local Development Order at the Aerohub Enterprise Zone grants planning permission for a 35.5 hectare business park at Newquay Cornwall Airport, covering business, general industrial and storage and distribution uses, to be developed over about 20 years. The airport has also been home to Spaceport Cornwall, and the units around it attract aviation, space and engineering firms.
Why Direct Matters This Far West
From Newquay, almost everything is a long way away. A parcel network will usually send an item east to a hub in Devon or beyond and back again, adding a day or more.
